In this shoot i was back in England and I noticed it was raining, a typical spring day ranging from sunshine to rain, therefore I decided to go outside and do a shoot, keeping Farrers work in mind to influence me ( a man who's aspect of his photography is the seasons). I was really happy with this shoot, and I was pleased as it linked in with my Summer shoot from when I was abroad. I didn't take many pictures because the rain kept landing on my lens and it was hard to keep wiping it with the rain still coming down. In this shoot I focused on the effects of the rain e.g. puddles, wetness over everything, etc.
In this image I took a picture from my window of the outside of the rain, as it allowed me to focus on the streaks of rain, this was the best way I shot the rain with it actually being visible. I turned this image into black and white as in the background there is greenery which made it a bit harder to see the rain, also I think by turning it into black and white it also created an emotive for the image. This worked because rain is often associated with being a pathetic fallacy and by turning it into black and white it made it that little bit more dreary.
In this image I took a picture of a puddle (which is only noticeable due to the glisten of it and the ripple from where a raindrop has hit it) with blossom flower petals sprinkled in it. This image shows two aspects of spring, the rain and the flowers which spring is usually associated with as that is when flowers begin to bloom. I didn't edit this picture as I wanted it to remain natural as spring is about naturalness, I didn't drain the colour from this image as I wanted the blossom petals to stand out in their natural colour.
Progression
In my next shoot I think I am going to return to the aspect of naturalness due to looking back on my old work and noticing I have done a manmade shoot and a manmade x natural shoot. I think it would be nice to finish off that element with a natural shoot to complete the trilogy. In this shoot I will be sure to use natural colours and selective colour to highlight the naturalness of the image. I think it would be best to not over edit the pictures in my next shoot to enforce the aspect of natural.
