Connecting Essay #3

Nicholas Gooden
In this image Gooden has taken a picture of an underground station and has taken the picture with a very slow shutter speed so that the audience can see the movement of the people and it almost seems and this image suggest as if they are in a rush. This image works particularly well because the bars in the middle are not show to be blurred, only the people and the space they move around in. This image has been turned into black and white, this means the colours dont over bear the image which I think is important as there is so much movement within this image.

In this image I used a slow shutter speed which allowed to show some movement. However even with the shutter speed, not a lot of movement was shown therefore I duplicated the layer and moved it slightly so that it seemed as if there was more movement. This made the background also blurred and seem if there was movement. In this image there is only one foot moving and this was simply because this was taken accidentally, as I was in London, and I actually thought of doing this I would of picked a part of London in which a lot of people were moving. I kept this image in colour as there was not a lot going on in it.

Both of these images connect because they both have the aspect of movement. The movement between both images shows human movement with in an urban landscape as opposed to transport which is usually photographed.
