Photographer #3

Adrian Oakes

Adrian Oakes is a landscape photographer who has work of  inside landscapes which is really what made me chose thins photographer as I thought this was different to everything I had seen so far, it is really nice to look at something that isn't outdoors. This makes his aspect to be inside landscapes. I have also chosen this photographer because I love the inside landscapes he photographs they are both classy and designed so beautifully, and it makes you want to visit them so you can take in the breathtaking decor yourself. Oakes also takes pictures outside of both manmade and natural areas, making his other aspects natural and manmade, this is a really nice effect as they both contrast each other.

In this image Oakes has used a wide angle lens to produce a cityscape of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. I really love the colour of the image as the sky turns into darkness creating shades of dark pink and midnight blue. The reflection in this image is also really interesting as it is not a clear reflection however the lights which shine from New York reflect, this demonstrates that it is a busy city that runs 24/7. I think this image explains New York perfectly. I think a sort of depth is provided due to the bridge, however I like how it runs into the city, and due to not seeing the beginning of it, this leads the audience who haven't seen it before to wonder how big it is.

This image has influenced me to create more cityscapes and perhaps in a time-lapse, so then I could make the aspect colour as you could see how an exact same place changes over the course of 24 hours, although this would be very time consuming and require a lot of planning on location, weather check ups, etc. This image has also influenced me to consider using the formal element of reflection again in order to show a landscape from a more peculiar point of view, I think this would be quite original.

In this image Oakes has created depth within a market abroad, this image is very natural and the out of focus background has been created in result to the camera. I like that this image has been kept natural as it shows exactly what this foreign market would look like. I love the narrow streets which are shown in this shot. In this image the plates are in focus, I would have preferred this image if more plates were in focus as then the aspect of this image could of been mass, however I think the aspect of this image is now natural.

This image has influenced me to consider using more depth in my images as I like the out of focus background, I have created an image like this including spices whilst on shoot in Tunisia, and this created a really nice photo, I think if I did this in more images i could create a really nice multiple imagery piece of them.

In this image a wide angle lens has been used by Oakes to show an entire landscape. I really like his positioning with this photograph and the fact that he has shown more sky than sea as the clouds within the sky I really like the clouds and how at the bottom they are block and look as if they are zooming off as the image continues. I think the boats in this image break it which I really like as the image would almost be solid blues. In the distance you can a town and this suggests this image has been taken from a far perhaps on a boat as opposed to land.

This image has influenced me to consider taking sky pictures with the aspect of colour, however I would need to do this on a cloudy day in order to see how the clouds can form an image in the sky and contort into recognisable things, this reminds me of cloud gazing when I was a child. This image has also influenced me to consider taking images like this in which I use a wide angle showing a landscape however focussing on the sky by lifting the camera slightly.

In this image Oakes has taken a picture of an inside landscape. This photo seems to have been taken with a zoom or it has been cropped to crate a very precise image of a ceiling, I really like this image due to the symmetry of and it is so precise. The framing of this image is perfect and the circle is directly in the middle and the other points follow perfectly due to this. I think the aspect of this landscape is the symmetry as it is so precise and obvious within this image. I love the colours also as they stand out so well against each other as one is quite dark whereas the other is quite bright.

This image has influenced me to use symmetry within my work, this could be done via photoshop however as I doubt i will ever create an image as precise as this one. I could do this by simply keep repeating the image so it all meets in the middle, however it will still not be like this image as this isn't an instance of repetition.

Overall I really like this photographer as I really think his work ranges as he doesn't simply just take pictures of outside landscapes, he focuses on different things within his pictures and it prevents his work from becoming tedious and repeating itself. I will really study this photographers work in order to influence my own work as I really think he has some work that I would like to try myself.
